McHale & Co Solicitors have managed to secure a bionic hand for a client who lost 3 fingers in an accident at work.
Mr Robert Karpowicz was only 24 at the time of the accident. He was working in England as a machine operative at a large car care product manufacturer before returning to his native Poland to join the Army.
On the day of the accident, one of the large mixing drums jammed and Robert was asked to put his hand in to try and fix the problem. Unfortunately, whatever obstacle had been preventing the mixer from turner was freed and as a result 3 fingers were wrenched from Robert’s hand.
Robert contacted Manchester firm, McHale & Co, as it has a strong reputation in the Polish community due to employing several Polish staff and excellent results for accident at work claims.
Solicitor, Nina Mahaffy, who specialises in accident at work claims, took up the challenge to try and get the best possible result for her client. After hours of research she came across Scottish company Touch Bionics. Touch Bionics specialise in ground breaking technology to build intelligent prosthetics. After lengthy negotiations with the Defendant, Nina was able to secure agreement to instruct Touch Bionics.
Robert has now been fitted with his bionic hand and has been able to take up an electrician course as his hopes for a career in the Army were dashed.
Robert said “Thanks to McHale & Co I now have my hand back – I never thought that this would be possible”.
